Aisling Walsh (Song For A Raggy Boy) will direct based on an original screenplay by Lauren MacKenzie.

The film starts shooting Oct 29 as a UK/Irish co-production. Subotica Entertainment’s Tristan Orpen Lynch and Dominic Wright will produce.

Content is also co-financing the project with the Irish Film Board, The Wales Creative IP Fund, the Limelight Fund and the Broadcast Commission of Ireland.

Morton plays an emotionally fragile young woman who moves to a remote Irish village with her husband (Steven Mackintosh) after the death of their baby daughter. The couple then decide to raise a disturbed orphan girl with autism. A series of strange happenings start to be linked to the girl, stirring local rumours.

Subotica’s Lynch and Wright said: “Bafta nominee Aisling Walsh has a unique ability to deliver powerful, intense films. Bringing this talent to a truly frightening movie like The Daisy Chain is a really exciting prospect.

ContentFilm president Jamie Carmichael added: “Samantha brings something very special to this role and her record with the Academy speaks for itself. I think the market is ready for a really scary, intelligent and above all, performance-driven supernatural thriller.”
