Coogan stars as a high school teacher who tries to save the school’s drama department by writing his own sequel to Hamlet.
Andrew Fleming (Nancy Drew, The Craft) will direct from a script he wrote with South Park veteran Pam Brady.
Shooting starts September 17 in New Mexico.
Eric Eisner is producing through L+E with Aaron Ryder. Bona Fide’s Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa will executive produce.
ContentFilm International president Jamie Carmichael said: “It’s a very funny, instantly recognisable concept and we’re very pleased to be in business with Eric and his fabulous cast and crew.”
Eisner added: “Steve Coogan is simply one of the most talented comedians there is; Andy and Pam wrote a very smart and engaging script and I couldn’t be more excited to work with such an accomplished team.’
More cast will be announced soon.
