London, 02nd September 2008 – Greg Phillips, President of Fireworks International, today announced the appointment of Robert Kennedy to the newly-created role of Executive Vice President of Fireworks Non-Fiction Programming. This appointment follows hot on the heels of the company’s recent announcement of an expanded presence in the US following the rapid development of the company’s worldwide TV division.
Kennedy joins Fireworks from Alfred Haber Distribution, where he was a key player in driving the company’s domestic and international market presence for the past 15 years. He joins the company on October 8th and will be attending MIPCOM as part of the Fireworks programming team.
As Executive Vice President of Non-Fiction Programming, Kennedy is charged with overseeing the company’s activities in the genre, including sourcing, developing and maximizing sales in the company’s Non-Fiction Programming. Fireworks International’s Toronto-based Non-Fiction division will report to him.
Commenting on the hiring, Phillips said, “This is a key appointment for Fireworks International. Bob’s hiring marks the start of a very significant growth phase for our Non-Fiction division which already boasts a substantial library of product from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Fireworks and Allumination libraries. As a highly respected media executive and with over 20 years of experience in the business we are confident that we will see dramatic growth results in this area of the business in the very near future. We look forward to welcoming Bob to our team in Cannes.” Further announcements are expected on new product acquisitions in the run up to MIPCOM.
