After becoming the 2nd most successful documentary at the Australian box office, ContentFilm International has acquired international sales rights to Eric Bana’s documentary feature debut LOVE THE BEAST. Following its International premiere this month at Tribeca Film Festival, ContentFilm will represent the film to buyers in Cannes next month where it will screen in the market.
Eric Bana, whose acting credits include Chopper, Munich, as well as this summer’s Star Trek, Funny People, and Time Travelers Wife, directs and stars exploring the meaning of his 25-year-long relationship with his first car, “The Beast”. Filmed over 2 years, the film follows Bana on an – unexpectedly – emotional journey from inside the race car to the surreal world of the red carpet as he considers the importance of family, friends and what it means to drive fast….really fast.
In addition to the participation of family and lifelong friends, the film stars Jay Leno, the Emmy Award winning host of The Tonight Show, Jeremy Clarkson of the popular UK series Top Gear, and Dr. Phil who bring their own points of view on the relationship between man and machine. The film is produced by Eric Bana, Peter, Matt and Stephen Hill.
Cassian Elwes and Emily Hirsch of William Morris Independent brokered the international deal and will be handling the North American sale.
ContentFilm Intl President, Jamie Carmichael said, “We love The Beast almost as much as Eric. We’re thrilled to be working with him and his partners.”
Producer Matt Hill said: “ContentFilm are a great match for Love the Beast. They get the film and its broad appeal and we’re extremely excited to be working with the team over there”.”
