The film is currently in production in New York.
Starring the inimitable Sam Rockwell and fast rising star Emma Roberts, comes the hilarious story of a washed up basketball coach who must learn to overcome his love of booze, his chauvinistic attitude towards women and his overdeveloped macho nature, in order to re-invent himself as a real man and give a bunch of no-hopers a shot at a WINNING SEASON! Extremely funny, oestrogen loaded and surprisingly touching this comedy is about one man’s tortuous and difficult journey towards understanding… women.
The film is produced by Plum Pictures’ Galt Niederhoffer, Celine Rattray and Daniela Lundberg (Diminished Capacity, Birds of America, Grace is Gone, Trucker, New York I Love You) as well as Kara Baker and Gia Walsh.
Amongst the crew are Director of Photography Frank G. De Marco (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Beerfest, Shortbus), Production Designer Stephen Beatrice (The Woodsman, The Messenger, Then She Found Me) and Editor Joe Klotz (Choke, Junebug).
The film is being financed by Gigi Production, Plum Pictures and ContentFilm International.
ContentFilm International will present the film at AFM 2008 and will screen footage from the first few days of shooting. William Morris will be representing North America.
CFI President Jamie Carmichael said, ‘We loved the script and Jim has a wonderful take on this unusual female comedy! He’s clearly a talent and we’re very pleased to be in business with everyone at Gigi Productions and Plum Pictures.’
Producers Rattray and Lundberg from Plum said: ‘It’s a joy to have Sam, Emma and the rest of the cast on such sparkling form, they’re all wonderfully funny.’
