LONDON, 8th November, 2007 – Greg Phillips, President of Fireworks International, the television distribution arm of ContentFilm Plc, announced today that the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has confirmed Fireworks International’s continued representation of the international distribution rights outside of the United States (world excluding Australia, New Zealand, Canada, China and Vietnam) for the Primetime Emmy® Awards Show.
Owing to Fireworks’ outstanding success in licensing the 59th Primetime Emmy® Awards Show, the Academy confirmed the renewal of the sales representation agreement through the 2010 Primetime Emmy® Awards Show. This year’s event, telecast live from Los Angeles, was broadcast in the US on the Fox Television Network. The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards will be telecast live in the US on the ABC Television Network.
Fireworks International has successfully represented the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and raised the profile of the awards internationally since 2003. This year’s awards were licensed by Fireworks to over 143 territories worldwide including Japan, Germany, Italy and Scandinavia.
This year new deals were brokered with CYBC in Cyprus, Serie Club in France, Teleimedi for Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Orbit and Dubai TV in the Middle East. Returning licensees of the red carpet extravaganza included TV 4 Sweden, Sony’s AXN and SET channels in Spain, Portugal, Central Europe, Japan and Latin America, ProSieben Germany, Canal Jimmy in Italy, TV2 Norway, TV3 Eire, NonStop Television AB for Star! in Scandinavia, MNET in South Africa, Hot Vision in Israel, Fiji Television and Mediacorp in Singapore. In addition, E! Entertainment picked up the show in the UK for the first time.
Alan Perris, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Chief Operating Officer commented “Fireworks has done a great job of assuring that we are comprehensively distributed around the globe, and has worked well with all of our international licensees to market the Primetime Emmy Awards. We look forward to working with them to continue to grow our worldwide audience.”
Greg Phillips, Fireworks International, President added, “We are absolutely delighted that the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has entrusted distribution of the prestigious Primetime Emmy® Awards to Fireworks International once again. The show continues to prove universally appealing to audiences around the globe, with new broadcasters onboard each year.”
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was founded in 1946 just one month after network television was born in the United States. It is a non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of telecommunications, arts and sciences and to fostering creative leadership in the telecommunications industry. In addition to recognizing outstanding programming through its Primetime Emmy® Awards, the Television Academy publishes emmy Magazine and through its Foundation, is responsible for the Archive of American Television.
