The film tells an epic story of the annual migration of over a third of Africa’s elephant population, as they make the hazardous trek across hundreds of miles of the Kalahari desert to reach the lush paradise of the newly flooded Okavango delta. With a highly-experienced crew of expert wildlife cameramen on board, the film will be a visually breathtaking feast for the senses, featuring the most technologically advanced footage of the majestic African elephants in their natural habitat.
Tusk’s innovative conservation work aims not only to protect endangered species, but also to promote, through sustainable development, poverty alleviation in rural communities throughout Africa.
Jamie Carmichael, President of ContentFilm said:
“TUSK is one of the most proactive, effective and connected charities working in Africa. Their integrated efforts on wildlife conservation, poverty and education are second to none. Though ELEPHANTS is pure entertainment, we do want the film to be a portal to the fundamental issues that lie behind the headlines – and we’re extremely pleased to be able to give TUSK this platform.”
Charles Mayhew MBE, chief executive of Tusk said: “Tusk is very excited by the fantastic opportunities our involvement in this project will bring to our work in Africa. We are all becoming increasingly aware of the threat posed by 21st century life to both wildlife and communities living alongside it and ‘Elephants of the Okavango’ will show just how dramatic these effects are on one of the world’s most iconic species.”
Going in to the AFM 2007, ‘Elephants of the Okavango’ has already sold widely, including deals in France(Euro TV), Germany (Falcom), Benelux (A-Film), Latin America including Brazil (Swen Intl).
