ContentFilm announces that it has agreed to produce and finance films in partnership with a newly formed film investment fund, Entertainment Investor LLP (“Entertainment Investor” or the “Fund”). The Fund expects to have a first closing at the end of September, and to raise approximately US$20m by the year end, which will enable up to US$80m of new film productions. ContentFilm will act as a commissioning producer to the Fund, identifying film projects for investment at all stages of production, from early development to production financing. ContentFilm’s international sales division will also handle worldwide sales of the films it identifies, and will be the preferred sales agent on other projects. ContentFilm and Entertainment Investor will arrange bank financing which is complementary to the Fund’s investments, and will be able to deploy the fund flexibly, investing in films produced around the world. The directors believe films financed in partnership with Entertainment Investor will bring to ContentFilm international sales commissions, as well as the potential for profit sharing agreements. Commenting on the deal, ContentFilm’s joint chief executives, Ed Pressman and John Schmidt, said: ‘Entertainment Investor and ContentFilm are forming an exciting partnership to finance and produce films, which we believe will enable a significant level of new production and give us the ability to co-finance larger films and partner with the major studios.”
