Ethan Hawke has signed on to CIA thriller “The Numbers Station,” directed by Kasper Barfoed (“The Candidate”). Content Film Intl. has acquired worldwide rights to the pic, which is produced by “The Cooler’s” Sean and Bryan Furst through their shingle Furst Films.
Hawke will also produce via his Under the Influence Prods. banner, with Ryan Hawke, Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton on board as exec producers.
Script is penned by F. Scott Frazier and follows a disgraced black ops agent tasked with a dead-end job of protecting a 20-year-old woman in the middle of the Nevada desert. The two eventually have to fight to survive after they come under attack.
The pic, which is budgeted in the $10 million range, is set to start shooting in September in a location yet to be determined.
Producers Sean and Bryan Furst said: “With such gifted collaborators like Ethan and Kasper working from this arresting script, we’re poised to deliver a thrilling crowd-pleaser, brimming with style and edge.”
Further cast have yet to be determined.
ContentFilm adds this pic to its roster of titles for sale on the Cannes market, including family comedy “The Dog Squad: 3D,” “Ironclad” and Xavier Gens’ “The Divide.”
