A coming of age thriller from the writer Matthew Carnahan in his feature film directional debut, BLACK CIRCLE BOYS is a taut and compelling drama about one young man’s struggle to overcome the tragic loss of his friend. Scott Bairstow stars as Kyle, an All-American high school student who is uprooted from his Southern California home and dropped into the strikingly different environment of suburban Seattle.

Unable to shake off his increasing sense of isolation, Kyle becomes charmed by an extremely charismatic and seductive student at his new school names Shane (Eric Mabius). Shane is surrounded by a group of other boys whose ferocious loyalty borders on the fanatical, and he pulls Kyle into their dark underworld of drugs, pseudo-satanic rituals and acid-edged gothic rock. Granted entry into this highly charged and intensely secretive society known as the Black Circle Boys, Kyle must confront his own despair as he is forced to denounce the friend he had hoped would save him.

The film also stars Heath Lourwood as Shane’s psychotic follower Munn and introduces Chad Lindberg as Rory, a hander-on whose pathetic attempts to insinuate himself into the group expose him to Shane’s wrath. Tara Subkoff appears as Kyle’s girlfriend Chloe, who struggles to help as Kyle plunges further into the nightmare. Also featured are Donnie Wahlberg as the drug dealer and ritual master, and music sensation Lisa Loeb as one of Shane’s angry victims. John Doe (of the band X) makes a special appearance as Kyle’s attorney and friend.

Caught between his own angry denial, the potential of new love and the seductive allure of fatalistic escapism. BLACK CIRCLE BOYS chronicles Kyle’s transition from loss to survival and ultimately his journey to redemption.
