New Orleans’ famed Mardi Gras celebration regularly shakes the Louisiana town to its foundations. But never like this. This time, there is an unforeseen force at work; a gigantic sinkhole beneath the streets that threatens to bring the party to a premature and devastating end. City official Allison Beauchamp, concerned about a series of smaller sinkholes that have begun wreaking havoc in the area, calls upon her fiancé, geologist Matt Andrews to investigate. What he finds doesn’t bode well for the so-called Crescent City, which lies completely below sea level. As disaster looms – endangering thousands, including Allison’s visiting niece, who’s riding a float in the festival’s parade – Matt must find a way to stop the ground from caving in beneath the stress of the Mardi Gras madness.
