Liz McCann (Nicole De Boer of Deep Space Nine) is a hard-charging real estate salesperson and single mom, struggling to raise her only child, Mason. It’s the Christmas season and Lisa’s father, Jack, a life-long banker, has invited them for the holidays to his new home, located in Hollyville, a small, low profile town billed as “America’s Christmas Town.” Mason, imbued with the Christmas spirit, really wants to go, but Liz, long estranged from her father and eager to make more sales while her competitors are celebrating, is not interested at all. Ultimately, Mason’s pleading, combined with Liz’s concern about her father’s “mid-life crisis”, prevail and they load up the car for the two day trip. Just outside Hollyville, their car breaks down and Mason follows a real live reindeer to the outskirts of the town. Along they way, they pass the headquarters of N. P. Enterprises, where curiously, the security looks more like soldiers from the Nutcracker Suite than guards, spurring Mason’s active imagination. Looking for a mechanic to repair their car, Mason and Liz arrive at the Egg Nog Café, and meet its owner, Kevin (Patrick Muldoon) who also introduces them to his short order cook, who surprisingly is none other than Liz’s father, Jack. In a town totally consumed with the Christmas spirit Liz, her son Mason and her father Jack discover the magic and healing of the true Christmas spirit. |
