ContentFilm plc and First Look Media, Inc. announced today that they have mutually agreed to terminate negotiations concerning a possible merger between the two companies, as announced in June of this year. In a joint announcement, John Schmidt and Edward Pressman, Joint Chief Executives of ContentFilm, and Chris Cooney, CEO of First Look Media, said: “Both companies determined that it was not in the best interests of either First Look Media or ContentFilm, and their respective stockholders, to proceed with the merger. We gained great respect for each other during the negotiations and we remain open to possible future transactions and partnerships on specific film prospects.” ContentFilm plc is a film production and distribution company based in London with offices in New York and Los Angeles. The company is engaged in film production in the UK and the United States, film financing, international sales and UK distribution. Recent productions include “The King”, starring William Hurt and Gael Garcia Bernal, which was developed by Film Four and is a joint production with Channel Four, and “The Business” with Vertigo Productions and director Nick Love, whose last film, “The Football Factory”, played to strong acclaim in the UK. The company is actively engaged in setting up a number of larger film productions and will continue to pursue corporate acquisitions in the area of library rights and video/dvd distribution.
