It is present day, and Jonathan is a critically acclaimed, happily married writer, who has been asked by the New Yorker magazine to write a piece about an acquaintance who changed his life. Unexpectedly, his thoughts take him back to 1960s Spain, to the thronging backstreets of Seville… Jonathan, a struggling writer, is searching for inspiration at a bullfight. Moved and provoked by the intensity and brutality of the spectacle, Jonathan is delighted when he accidentally meets Sebastian – the infamous young bull fighter – at a bar later that night.
