ContentFilm entered the US DVD distribution market in the summer of 2006 with the acquisition of Alllumination FilmWorks.
In June 2008, ContentFilm announced the merger of Allumination FilmWorks, with the US home entertainment operations of Peace Arch Entertainment Group (PAE). The combined businesses operated as Peace Arch Home Entertainment (PAHELLC) and was owned 50/50 by ContentFilm and Peace Arch Entertainment. PAHELLC acquired domestic home entertainment rights from studios and independent producers and distributed DVDs of its licensed content to retailers throughout the U.S.
In April 2009 ContentFilm announced that it sold its entire North American home entertainment operations – including its 50% interest in PAHELLC – to a consortium led by Berry Meyerowitz, the President of Peace Arch Home Entertainment (PAHELLC). The new business, to be run under the existing management team led by Berry Meyerowitz, will be named Phase 4 Films (Phase 4). ContentFilm’s interest is a 22.5% minority stake in the new venture .
