ContentFilm International has picked up all international rights to Duncan Tucker’s road movie Transamerica, which had its North American premiere at Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend.

Transamerica, received its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. ContentFilm International will represent the picture at the Cannes market next month where it will also be pushing James Marsh’s family drama The King starring Gael Garcia Bernal, which will play in the festival’s Un Certain Regard strand.

Transamerica stars Desperate Houswives star Felicity Huffman as a transsexual woman who heads off to New York to find the child she fathered as a man. Kevin Zegers, Fionnula Flanagan, Graham Greene and Elizabeth Pena co-star.

Linda Moran and Rene Bastian of Belladonna Productions produced the picture with Sebastian Dungan, while William H Macy served as executive producer.

Sue Bodine and Andew Hurwitz of Epstein, Levinsohn, Bodine, Hurwitz and Weinstein represent North American rights.

ContentFilm International’s Cannes slate also includes Jason Reitman’s debut feature Thank You For Smoking, which stars Aaron Echart, Katie Holmes, William H Macy and Robert Duvall. ContentFilm and David Sacks’ Room 9 Entertainment co-produced the picture.
