Los Angeles 4 Feb 2010 – ContentFilm International has acquired worldwide rights to Gabriel Range’s (Death of a President) new film, which also reunites Jeremy Brock and Andrea Calderwood, writer and producer of ‘The Last King of Scotland’.

The currently untitled project inspired by extraordinary real life events, is a controversial thriller about London’s outrageous slave trade, and one woman’s fight for freedom… This film is shocking to the core, while simultaneously one of the most inspiring stories of our time…

The film is now in production in Kenya after wrapping the UK portion of the shoot in January and is scheduled for completion in May 2010.

Gabriel Range won the International Critic’s Prize in Toronto 2006 for his brilliant directorial debut Death of a President.

The cast includes the breathtaking Wunmi Mosaku (Silent Witness and Moses Jones both for BBC), Isaach De Bankolé (Casino Royale, Miami Vice, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Manderlay), Lubna Azabal (Body of Lies, Paradise Now), Igal Naor (Green Zone, Munich, Rendition), Hiam Abbass (The Visitor, Lemon Tree, Babel, Munich), Nonso Anozie (Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, Atonement) and Nasser Memarzia (Kingdom of Heaven, Munich, The Kite Runner).

The film is produced by Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland) and executive produced by Gail Egan (The Constant Gardner, Happy Go Lucky), Liza Marshall (Boy A, Red Riding), Katherine Butler (Brick Lane) and Gabriel Range. Gabriel Range developed the powerful script with Andrea hich is written by Jeremy Brock (The Last King of Scotland (BAFTA ® winner for Best Adapted Screenplay), Brideshead Revisited, The Eagle of the Ninth, Mrs Brown), the fantastic crew includes Director of Photography Robbie Ryan (Fish Tank, Brick Lane, Red Road), Production Designer Cristina Casali (In the Loop, Red Riding: 1974) and Line Producer Donall McCusker (Death of a President, Battle for Haditha, The Hurt Locker (as Co-Producer)).

Produced by Slate Films and The Borough Picture Company, the film is financed by the UK Film Council, C4, Film Agency for Wales, Limelight and Molinare.
