Fireworks International, the television and digital distribution arm of ContentFilm plc, has sold the television broadcast rights to Spike TV’s Guys Choice to a raft of international territories, as new deals are closed with MTV in the UK, SKY TV in New Zealand, ABS in the Philippines and MNET in South Africa.

The explosive 2010 special, which aired in the US in June and is the first Guys Choice available for international acquisition, has now been picked up in a total of 170 territories worldwide. These new acquisitions add to previously announced agreements with Movie Network (Australia), MTV (Finland), TV2 (Denmark), Animax Latin America (pan Latin America) and AXN Asia/Animax Asia (pan Asia).

A star-studded homage to all things male, the fourth annual Guys Choice was held in Los Angeles and broadcast on Spike TV in the US. The show, which has already made international headlines, boasts a stellar guest list of A-list celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Sandra Bullock, Scarlett Johannson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Charlize Theron and Robert De Niro. The awards show features innovative and creative categories and is an unparalleled evening of humour, celebrity, glamour, action and controversy.

Highlights of this year’s ceremony include Sandra Bullock’s first public appearance in months – Guys Choice 2010 also sees Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta celebrate as Goodfellas is inducted into the “Guy Movie Hall of Fame,” and George Clooney is named “Guy of the Year”. Other featured appearances include Sylvester Stallone, Jessica Biel, Robert Downey Jr, James Gandolfini, Kid Rock, Liam Neeson and the cast of the summer action blockbuster ‘The A Team’.

Bob Kennedy, Executive Vice President Non-Fiction Programming at Fireworks International said today, “Guys Choice has it all, incredible star power that cuts across all demos, great production values and a really fun vibe. Spike has truly delivered and we have a great roster of broadcasters around the world and are adding more daily.”

Eddie Dalva, Senior Vice President of Content, MTV Networks Entertainment Group added, “We’re thrilled with the global reach achieved for Guys Choice through its distribution by Fireworks International. The ratings success and critical acclaim of the past two Guys Choice specials illustrates that the event is connecting with audiences and becoming a must-attend for the Hollywood elite.”
